About Travis Farmer

I am an aspiring IAM Engineer with a deep passion for understanding how systems work and what it takes to protect them. Enjoying video games as child growing up exposed me to the world of hackers, as I witnessed players break game databases and use data to gain unfair advantages. What caught my attention was not the exploit itself but the idea of being the person on the other side, the one skilled enough to prevent it. That became the foundation of everything I am working toward today.

That passion had developed into something more tangible by high school. Upon completing my first computer science course and building my first PC, my perspective on technology completely changed. It showed me what was actually possible with the right hardware and software, the kinds of creative and efficient things I can now develop. Since those events transpired, I was sure that this was the path I wanted.

Now, as a second-year Computer Science major at Georgia State University with a concentration in Cybersecurity, I am constantly pushing myself to learn and grow. I recently built a web vulnerability scanner that automates security audits for developers and small teams who have no easy way to identify threats such as SSL misconfigurations, exposed directories, and weak headers in their web applications. What used to be a hours long manual process now takes minutes. I also built a password strength analyzer, which deepened my ability to translate security concepts into tools that people can actually use.

My skill set consists of strong skills in Python development, UI and UX design, and core security principles, and I am currently expanding that foundation by working toward my CompTIA Security+ certification, sharpening my fundamentals through a Data Structures course, and planning to further my cybersecurity knowledge through CodePath 2026 summer courses.

Outside of tech, I enjoy talking sports and jumping on any opportunity to give back through volunteering. Those experiences keep me grounded and remind me that the skills I am building exist to serve something bigger than myself.

My goal goes beyond landing a job. I want to be the kind of cybersecurity professional that companies seek out, knowing the job will be done correctly and efficiently. I am building a broad, deep skill set to protect any system at any level, at any given time. That purpose is what drives everything I do.
